Big Baby
Dear Dr. Darcy:
I have been wearing diapers since I was 8 years old and now I’m 25 years old. I pee in them now and I started drinking out of a bottle and drinking baby formula and eating baby food and I can’t stop. I love it too much and I can’t tell my mom and I get mad at everyone when I ask them to change me and they say no and no one will talk to me. What do I do?
ANSWER
You’ve got a problem. Clinically, we call it paraphilic infantilism, aka adult baby fetish, and essentially it involves adults deriving sexual gratification from engaging in the role-play of an infant. As you’re seeing, it becomes problematic when the people in your life are not turned on by the prospect of changing your diaper or by your general state of regression.
People like you have a desire to be taken care of, but you’re sabotaging your needs by the way in which you’re attempting to get that need met. It almost makes me wonder if you’re a little masochistic. I’m not saying that the fetish itself is problematic – I’m saying that the method by which you’re trying to act it out continues to result in rejection, and yet you fail to change anything.
You’re confusing fantasy with reality. It’s unrealistic to expect non-sexual partners to participate in this (or any) type of role-play. Find yourself an adult baby fetish website so that you’ll have an appropriate outlet for this need and stop imposing it on your platonic friends.
Finally, if this fetish is getting in the way of your ability to function and you’re not able to work or engage in age-appropriate daily activities, it no longer qualifies as a fetish and it becomes a disorder for which you need treatment. Here’s a quick way of deciding: If you need to ask your mom, you need to seek treatment.
