Dear Dr. Darcy:

I just found out that 2 of my exes are dating and my skin is crawling! Are there not a million single women in New York? They knew I dated each of them.  Why would they do this? Are they comparing notes about me? I’m about to hook up with one of their exes! What is wrong with lesbians?!!!!

ANSWER

It’s an old story.  LGBT’s make up less than 10% of the population, making our pool of choices the size of a puddle.  It’s inevitable, though in all honesty, I don’t think any of my exes have ever hooked up with one another. Oh, strike that, but my situation involves 2 exes of opposite genders, LMAO.  OK, back to you…

Let them have their romp in peace.  I understand that you’re hurt, but acting vindictively won’t stop them. It will just add excitement and drama to their story.  And by the way, hurting you probably wasn’t the driving force behind them getting together. In fact, I’d venture to say that you weren’t a thought in either of their minds.

Do not focus your energy on retribution.  It will only cause you more pain.  You get what you focus on in life.  Choose to be a victim and you’ll suffer indefinitely.  Get a sense of humor about this and move on.  My response above was legitimate ~ when I realized that I’d experienced what you did, I laughed over the fact that it had slipped my mind, because for me it was particularly significant given that one of my exes was someone I was married to.  These are two people who you didn’t work out with. They probably deserve each other 😉
